SWINDON ACADEMY CELEBRATES STELLAR GCSE RESULTS
72% of students achieve a grade 4 or above in English and maths
Students and staff at Swindon Academy are celebrating today after the publication of this year’s GCSE results.
Testament to students’ hard work and resilience, 72% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English and maths, with just over half achieving the higher grade 5 or above in both subjects. Many of these students will be continuing their studies at the school by taking up their places at United College Sixth Form (UCSF) – based at Swindon Academy – in September.
Some of the school’s standout individual successes today include:
- Amelia, who achieved six grade 9s and three grade 8s;
- Alfie, who achieved five grade 9s and three grade 8s;
- Dylan, who achieved five grade 9s and four grade 9s;
- Shreya, who achieved three grade 9s, five 5 grade 8s and one grade 7;
- Saad, who achieved two grade 9s, five grade 8s and one grade 7.
These results follow on from the publication of A Level results last week which saw students at UCSF leading the celebrations. Impressively, 35% of A Level entries achieved grades A*-B and 74% of entries achieved grades A*-C. This has enabled UCSF students to secure places at some of the country’s top Russell Group universities, including the University of Exeter and University College London.
Karen Wright, Principal at Swindon Academy, said:
“Very well done to our GCSE students celebrating today. They have done themselves – and us – so proud with what they have achieved and are highly deserving of their success. It is fantastic that so many of them will be joining UCSF in the new academic year and will be able to benefit from the host of opportunities our Sixth Form has to offer.”
