The Iterative Design Process
Workshop Safety
During their product design rotation as part of design and technology the students will go through the iterative design process to design, test and manufacture a handheld toy game using a variety of different manufacturing methods. The students will get to be introduced to a design brief and create a basic specification before creating design ideas. The students will evaluate, discuss, and develop these design ideas through a range of testing and modelling before settling on their final design. Students will then get to create their product using a range of different materials and learn basic life skills such as measuring, cutting, and drilling. The students will also get to be involved with using the laser cutter and decorating their final product with a suitable surface finish. Throughout their rotation, students are shown how to safely work in the workshop and with the tools that they use.
