We are living in the midst of a revolution powered by computers. Whether you want to program the latest killer app or game or just be able to understand the world of computers, learning computer science would be an excellent choice. Students finish the course with a good understanding of how computers work and how to program them. Research suggests that IT jobs are among the highest paid and have the highest job satisfaction.
This course is structured into twelve themes that cover algorithms, data structure, programming, theory of computation, data representation, computer systems, computer organisation and architecture, consequences of uses of computing, networking, databases, big data and finally functional programming.
Students are assessed by two exams and a programming project of their choice (has to meet assessment requirements).
The study of these topics provides students with an all-round knowledge and understanding in Computer Science, enabling them to take up a career or venture into university.
Computer Science can be studied in its own right or as part of the Cyber Technologies Pathway.
