This vocational course is completed over two years and covers a wide range of theory and practical skills. Students complete projects, assignments and assessments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
The qualification could lead to apprenticeships in electronics, design or mechanical engineering or could lead to studying an Engineering Degree at university.
The course is 75% coursework based. It is assessed internally, and then externally sampled. The course has an exam in engineering principles, and an externally assessed controlled assessment in engineering product design.
Engineering is available as a foundation diploma (1.5 A Level equivalent) and an extended certificate (1 A Level equivalent).
Acceptance onto this course requires a grade 5 in maths.
