During this course, students work towards a number of units to support their understanding of the health and social care industry. Students could go on and work in the health and social care industry in roles such as Support Worker, and Health Care Assistants. In addition, along with a combination of other level three qualifications, students could use these points to gain a place at university in pathways such as nursing and social work.
Extended Certificate: In year 1, students complete units on human lifespan development and meeting individual needs. In year 2, students complete units on and physiological disorders and working in health and social care.
Diploma: In year 1, students do the same as the Extended Certificate, plus an additional two units of principles of safe practice in health and social care and supporting individuals with additional needs. In year 2, students will do the same as the Extended Certificate plus an additional two units on current research in health and social care and promoting health.
Health and Social Care can be studied in its own right or as part of the Allied Healthcare Pathway.
