Students who study A Level Textiles could go on to university to study textiles.

The course is 100% coursework based.  It is assessed internally and externally sampled.

Candidates produce a broad range of practical and critical/contextual work in one or more areas including fashion, printed and/or dyed fabrics and materials, domestic textiles, wallpaper, interior design, constructed textiles and installed textiles. Students are also given the opportunity to experiment with mixed media textiles work, including sculpture, photography and fine art-based materials.

Unit 1 is worth 60% of the qualification mark and consists of a portfolio of work.  Students can choose from a selection of titles to research, explore, develop and produce outcomes.  Unit 2 is worth 40% of the qualification. It involves a preparatory period followed by a supervised 10-hour exam period in which to produce outcomes.
